EARN GRADUATE CREDIT

Adventures In Education offers exciting courses through Guided Distance Learning (GDL) for Teachers, Educators, Curriculum Planners, Administrators, Coordinators and Teachers of gifted students.  These courses are designed for teachers seeking certification renewal and professional development.  GRADUATE CREDIT is available for all courses through Portland State University. Registration for all courses is through Adventures In Education.

Our Mission:

Our high quality GDL courses allow you to develop new, creative and interactive approaches to teaching.  The often heard question, "What is this stuff good for" is met head on.  You will engage in a variety of stimulating and fun classroom activities that you can take directly back to your classroom and immediately apply. These courses will instill an overall appreciation of the discipline, and an exposure to the subtlety and variety of its many facets: problems, ideas, methods, solutions, etc.  The connection between the discipline and down-to-earth, concrete real-life problems is direct and immediate.  The activities will also prompt classroom discussion, generate lesson plans, provide new ideas for instructional techniques and suggest topics for research projects and term papers.  You owe it to yourself to review our courses now!!

What are Guided Distance Learning (GDL)Courses?

These courses offer a flexible way to gain the knowledge you need to meet the challenges of your classroom at your own pace and on your own schedule. Teachers can earn graduate credit toward teaching certification renewal and professional development. With these courses you will receive print materials, a handbook and a course guide. Complete the exercises, activities, and/or research, and submit your results to the instructor. If questions arise, the facilitator is only an email or a phone call away. The curriculum of our courses does not require any presentation or application of the material  in the classroom while taking the course. All assignments can be completed on your own and outside the classroom.

Registration for all courses is through Adventures In Education. Click on the link to access a registration form. See Registration deadlines below.

Graduate Credit:  Graduate credit is available for each course/workshop through Portland State University.  The total cost varies with the number of credit hours for each course/workshop. For those applying for graduate credit, please see the graduate credit section on the bottom of each course/workshop description.

Quarter graduate credits transfer to an institution on semesters according to the institution's semester equivalency. Most colleges/universities convert quarter graduate credits to semester graduate credits using a factor of 2/3, i.e. 3 quarter graduate credits are equivalent to 2 semester graduate credits.

Enrollment is limited to 8 credits per term unless officially admitted to PSU (except Summer term when enrollment is limited to 16 graduate or 21 undergraduate credits). See www.pdx.edu for more information.
